There are many programs to quit smoking, some look to a drug such as zyban chantix or champix to stop smoking. This turns out to be not so great an idea to quit smoking with these types of drugs. The FDA has issued warnings on the chemical Chantix (real name varenicline)

To Quit Smoking using Chantix (varenicline) is not very likely. If you do happen to avoid the high incidence of the reported and FDA acknowledged correlation to suicide and thoughts of suicide, your chances are still less than 10% to have success in your attempt to quit smoking. Pfizer is marketing Chantix (varenicline) as having a higher success rate than may be actual fact. This may be because in clinical trials the treatment was closely supervised and the patients received counseling and all the support they needed. Just imagine a chemical chantix (varenicline) is given to stop smoking, counseling and support  is given 24 hrs around the clock for a 12 week period and the success rate is only 44% how ineffective might this drug chantix (varenicline) really be? In the real world who has 24 hour on demand support? You can see why the REAL World Rate of success is more like 1 In 11 when using chantix to quit smoking, not very good.  

Pfizer may have also managed to get away with not listing the full side effects that include not only their listed vomiting, nausea, abnormal dreams, sleep disturbance and constipation, this according to the January 18, 2008 Pfizer's Patient Information sheet. That same sheet failed to let smokers know of vastly more serious risks associated with using chantix to stop smoking. The risks mentioned on varenicline's Full Prescribing Information Sheet, including those of suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, psychotic events, kidney failure, joint pain, muscle pain and arthritis when chantix is used to quit smoking. 

With chantix (varenicline) just like with nicotine patches, gums and other drugs that are like zyban, and used to quit smoking, smokers are likely to experience heavy withdrawal after ending chantix (varenicline),

Most importantly it has been indicated that Pfizer is failing to let smokers know that fail chantix (varenicline ) users have relapsed to smoking in one year to the tune of 50% and this is the rate of the 12 week clinical studies with all the support. The rate may approach 100% in the Real World with those using it to suit smoking.
